The Mayfield Panthers Junior Football Club was formed in 2001 by John Slater and Paul Barlow; four years later we now have a total of 5 teams operating at under 8, 9, 10 and 14 ages including 2 under 9 sides. Over the years the club has enjoyed some super financial backing from the Football Foundation, Staffordshire Moorlands Council and even a Lottery grant, all of which has enabled us to provide equipment for the children. Two new Mayfield Panthers teams have just embarked on their first year of competitive football in the Burton Junior Football League. The Boys - no girls yet - have all been snapped up from the highly successful Training school which has operated on Saturday mornings for the last few years. The success of the club is attributed to the dedication of parents; and as we go into the new season our 5 sides are strongly supported by no less than 7 Dad's who have already successfully been trained and certified by the FA, with a further 2 taking there FA Grade 1 badges next year! This is a truly magnificent show of strength and professionalism by such a new club and one which will enable us to attain full FA Charter Standard status. Just think for a moment we have at least 60 children off the streets, away from their computers and enjoying the fresh air and without the clubs existence some of these children might not have competitive football in their lives and of course the sense of being that brings with it.
